I just got my voice back!
Yes, I have been almost voiceless for the past three days. On Wednesday, I got a bit of a sore throat but as a teacher who scares the soul out of a student with my high pitched voice, I still used my yelling skills despite the up and coming cough. And it paid off the next day. But it was AMAZING that during this days without much of a voice, the students were quite quiet- QUITE QUIET. Perhaps I should be going on voiceless?
Anyway, I am trying to examine some measures taken in this 3 days for my voice to come back into order. I have looked up over the internet. When one is voiceless, it is the vocal cords- the larynx, that is problematic. It failed to vibrate to produce sound, so I imagined that my vocal cord is laying nicely like folded T-shirts in the closet or drawers (em... unlikely to picture?) So to overcome this, the vocal cord need some rest and moisture. These were the two popular suggestions that we could fine anywhere about the treatment to this disorder. As for my problem, I took Sedilix in the morning and before bed. It is the cough med that I usually take when I have sore throat so that I do not cough the next day, or if I did cough it would not take too long to recover. That resulted in coughing out greenish phlegm in the morning, meaning that there is infection going on in the there- my throat. Though voiceless, I did not experience any soreness or coughing. I did not rest from talking very much though. My other measure is of course drinking.Only yesterday did I realize that I was not drinking much, so almost every hour yesterday, I made sure I drank some water and it was chilled. I am not sure if that little bit of coolness has helped. Reading from the professional writing, it is not encouraged to take acidic (sour tasted) remedy, like tamarind juice or lime- for it could hurt the vocal cord more. But I took some tamarind juice anyway- chilled. I guess my vocal cord is healthy again no matter what I did, and I should give it a break before I start yelling again.
