(quite) a Great Holiday

It was quite a good trip to Sandakan and Tawau, not forgetting Semporna.

Sabah, mapped

From that big, we travelled through the route shown here-

We boarded the low cost carrier (LCC). The terminal (LCCT) is actually separated from the main airport, nearer to the cargo terminal. Let's say you sort of mistaken LCCT for the main airport, you could still go to LCCT via feeder buses from the main terminal. That'd cost you another RM1.50.

Before boarding a plane:
  1. scan the bags before you check in.
  2. provide IC when checking in.
  3. wait until you are allowed to wait at the designated gate.
  4. provide boarding pass at the gate just before boarding the plane.
Before you enter Sabah, that means at the airport upon arrival, immigration officers (I think) will give you a document (just a piece of thin paper), stating that you could stay in Sabah for not more than three months. So take care of the document although it looks like a shopping receipt.

Tour started the next morning as early as 8.00am with visiting orang utan sanctuary in Sepilok about 10km from my uncle's home in Sandakan.

8.00am in Sabah looks like it's already 10.00am in the Peninsula. I got up at 6.00am and it looks like it was already my usual 8 in the morning.
The next stop was the Australian Memorial. It's named so because during the second World War, most of the Japanese army's war prisoners were Australian.

The beautiful lake. For photographing pleasure actually!

Another attraction in Sandakan is the proboscis monkeys sanctuary. We didn't visit the place because it's kinda scary. People have been missing there.

The next day was a whole day of a trip to Tawau.
We passed Lembah Danum. My aunt said we need to get a permit to enter the conservation area.
Stopped at Madai-Baturong Forest Recreation Center, 15 minutes drive from Kunak, for a while. Such a scenic place.

We stopped at Kunak Kaya for a drink and then off to Semporna.

We ate some seafood in a restaurant here. I was fascinated with a vegetable dish. It looked like asparagus, just thinner. It was indeed one delicious dish I'd like to have again!

Sempurna, kan? Ha ha...
The views are marvelous everywhere but I couldn't have them all photographed.
Thanx so very much to my aunts and uncles there for the great food and tour!
