A Slight Case of Murder

I have only murdered some insects so far and this is not about the real world!
It's just a movie that I watched last month or so, about a man who accidentally killed his girlfriend in an argument at her place and trying his best to get out of it.
So, this guy (played by William H. Macy) is a movie critic. After the accidental murder, he found out that a private investigator (John Cromwell) saw him with photographs as proof. The PI blackmailed him and he was forced to rob a bank (can you imagine?) But he looked cute with ping pong balls in his mouth when he was disguising at the robbery, ha ha! Sometimes later, he killed the PI. Now, that's a murder, but he got away with it. The case- the original accidental murder, was investigated by a police detective (Adam Arkin) who is also interested to make it to Hollywood. While they go about the case (which shifted the police's suspicion to another party) and the Hollywood dream, the critic began an affair with Mrs. Police Detective (Julia Campbell). Wrong, wrong, wrong! The critic got another girlfriend (Felicity Huffman) who one day thought that he was at something. Her neighbour saw the critic at the bank at the time of robbery, with the same look he had when he saw him wearing a hat. He was almost caught I thought he wanted to kill his another girlfriend already, but the neighbour came about at a critical time telling that the 'real culprit' was caught already. So, he was saved again. Just when he thought he was safe, he was arrested for the murder of his girlfriend. Why? Why do you think? Mr. Police Detective found out about the affair, so he framed the critic for the accidental he committed. Ever heard of what goes around comes around?
I like this movie because it is narrated as it is in Malcolm in the Middle. Is it exciting enough for your viewing?
